Tigers Compete Well With Sixth-Place Finish At Capital Purple & White Invitational

LOCKBOURNE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tiger women's golf program took another small step forward with a sixth-place finish out of 17 teams in a strong field at the Capital University Purple & White Invitational.
On this weekend, evidence of continuing forward strides come in the form of a 13-stroke improvement on Day 2 of the tournament and a top-half finish despite the absence of two of the team's top players. As it was, the Tigers posted a two-day score of 759, thanks in large part to a Day 2 mark of 373.
Four of the Tigers' five players in the tournament improved their score on Saturday, starting with junior Jennifer Petro (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart), who carded an 81 to finish with a 169 overall and pull into the top 10 in the final standings at eighth. Freshman Anna Bencriscutto (Ironwood, Ariz./Oro Valley) was just as good on the sunny day - as opposed to the soggy Friday conditions - as she posted an eight-stroke improvement to finish at 184, good for 27th place.
Sophomore Kristina Herman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) added a 195, although she actually bucked the trend by finishing 13 strokes better on Day 1, to finish 29th, and sophomore Amanda Delagrange (Akron, Ohio/Firestone) rounded out the Tigers' scorers with a 216.
