Tigers Finish Season-Best Second At Transylvania
The Wittenberg Tiger women's golf team found their best finish of the young 2007 season on Thursday, participating in the one-round Transylvania Fall Invitational. In a six-team field the Tigers fought their way to second place, beating out Rose-Hulman and host Transylvania by just four and six points respectively.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Wittenberg Tiger women's golf team found their best finish of the young 2007 season on Thursday, participating in the one-round Transylvania Fall Invitational. In a six-team field the Tigers fought their way to second place, beating out Rose-Hulman and host Transylvania by just four and six points respectively.
Fellow freshman Sara Mewhort (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula) was right behind the 11th-ranked Bencriscutto in 13th place with a score of 95. Following her wereAmanda Delagrange (Akron, Ohio/Firestone) in 17th with 98 and Colleen Stephens (Lexington, Ky./Dunbar) in 21st with 106.
The Tiger scores give an indication of how tight the competition was. Petro and Mewhort stood just seven strokes apart at the end of the day, but ended up nine places off from each other.
The Tiger women have three fall tournaments remaining, the next hosted by Wilmington at Majestic Springs Golf Course in Wilmington, Ohio on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007.
