COLUMBUS, Ohio - The record books had pages being ripped out by the women's golf team this weekend, as Wittenberg traveled to Pataskala, Ohio, to participate in the Kisor Classic, hosted by Ohio Dominican University. The team turned in a second-place finish, a tie for its best tournament finish since the program went varsity in 2003, matched only earlier this season in a tournament at Transylvania. However, as a team they turned in their best one-day score ever, after having broken that record earlier this season at DePauw. At 342, the first-round score is the Tigers' best ever, undercutting the previous record by 12 strokes.

Tiger stalwart Jennifer Petro (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) once again led the team, with a two-day total of 162, but more importantly set the Tiger's all-time varsity one-round score with an 80 in the first round, followed by an 82 in round two, good enough for second on the one-round scores list. Joining Petro were three teammates breaking into the 80s in at least one round, breaking the school record for such a feat in one tournament.

Freshman standout Anna Bencriscutto (Oro Valley, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) posted the Tigers' second-best finish, clubbing a 172 overall, including an 87 in round one and an 85 in round two. Kimberleigh McClure (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) broke the 80s in her second round with an 89, after finishing the first with a 92.

Despite not scoring in the 80s, Amanda Delagrange (Akron, Ohio/Firestone) was consistent with a 96 and 97, for 193 total. The most interesting story of the weekend was perhaps that of Sara Mewhort (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula), who after a rough first round with a score of 100, came back in a big way, shooting an 86 in the second round to keep her in the tournament and remain in the top five for the Tigers.

The women play in their last outing of the fall on Sunday, Oct. 14, at Fowler's Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, Ohio, at a tournament hosted by John Carroll University.
