Tigers Face The Buckeye State At All-Ohio Championships

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Wittenberg cross country teams faced off with most of the state on Saturday at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville University. The women finished 14th among 21 NCAA Division III teams and the men finished 16th among 22.

The women were led by junior Molly King (Springfield, Ohio/Northeastern) in 36th on a time of 19:37.78 on the 5k course. The next Tiger to finish was senior Chesley Williams (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury), who crossed in 20:44.06 in 80th, followed by a trio of runners in close proximity.

They included junior Maggie McIlvain (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool), junior Shannon Kelleher (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) and freshman Sarah Ellis (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) in 97th, 98th and 100th, respectively.

For the men, junior Jacob Kuntz (Versailles, Ky./Woodford) set the pace with a 30th-place finish on a time of 26:47.10 on the 8k course. Senior Trevor Grandy (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) was next in 49th on a time of 27:13.49, followed immediately by junior Wade Westbrook (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone) less than two seconds behind in 50th.

Sophomore Adam Kapuscinski (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) rounded out the Tigers' top 100 finishers in 96th.

The Tigers will rest over Wittenberg's Homecoming Weekend before participating in the Wilmington Invitational on Friday, Oct. 12.
