    At the NCAC Cross Country Championship Meet, Abi Gerstle took home the individual women's title for a second straight year with a 5K-time of 18:46, which was five seconds faster than the rest of the field and 23 seconds better than her winning time in 2001. Already the first Wittenberg runner, male or female, to gain an individual cross country championship and Runner of the Year honors, she duplicated the feat in 2003.
  • Women's Cross Country At NCAA Division III National Championship Meet

    Junior Abi Gerstle (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont), the first female runner in school history to ever qualify for the NCAA Division III Championship Meet a year ago, made a return trip to the biggest meet of the year last week.
  • Women's Cross Country at NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet

    All season, the Wittenberg cross country team has been paced by junior Abi Gerstle (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont), the first female runner in school history to ever qualify for the NCAA Division III championship meet a year ago. Two weeks after becoming the first Tiger runner to win an individual NCAC title, Gerstle bettered her personal best time to finish 9th overall at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet at Kalamazoo College with a time of 18:35.
  • Women's Cross Country At Manchester Invitational

    Things just keep getting better for the Tigers on the cross country courses, and at just the right time, too. The women's team finished second at the Manchester Invitational on Saturday, while the men's team enjoyed its finest finish of the season, a fourth. Both fields included nine teams.
  • Women's Cross Country At Loyola Lakefront Invitational

    Wittenberg got another outstanding performance from junior co-captain Abi Gerstle (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago last weekend. Gerstle, last week's NCAC Runner of the Week, was one of the top Division III finishers in a field that numbered nearly 300, posting a 37th place finish with a time of 19:13.
  • Women's Cross Country at 11th Annual Friendship Invitational at Cedarville University

    The Wittenberg cross country teams ran well in the Friendship Invitational at Cedarville University on Saturday, led by junior Abi Gerstle (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont), who had her best race of the still-young season. Wittenberg's first women's cross country national qualifier a year ago, Gerstle led the Tiger team to an eighth-place finish (best among Division III schools in the field) by finishing eighth with a season-best time of 19:18, which earned her NCAC Runner of the Week honors.
  • Women's Cross Country At 5K Flyer Invitational

    The Wittenberg cross country program has not competed since Sept. 1, when the Tiger teams both ran third in the University of Dayton Invitational. Senior Sarah Weide (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) was the Tigers' top finisher in sixth place individually.
