Seven Wittenberg Women Earn Association of Water Polo Coaches All-Academic & CWPA Honors

Seven Wittenberg University Women's Water Polo players were named to the Associations of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Team after excelling in the classroom during the 2019-20 season, it was announced by the organization on July 20.

Additionally, these same seven Wittenberg women's on August 5 were named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association Scholar-Athlete Team. Previously named the All-Academic Team, the program honors student-athletes who have achieved grade point averages of 3.2 or higher and competed during the COVID-19 abbreviated 2020 women's season. Overall, 50 athletes were honored with Outstanding (3.71-4.0) recognition, while 77earned Superior (3.41-3.7) and 44 were recognized with Excellent (3.2-3.4) accolades. The Tigers also finished Top 5 in GPA within their conference amongst Division III institutions.

Among the Tiger women, Caroline Coleman and Calista Spring topped the list earning Outstanding honors. Savanah Phillips, Kailey Cordova, and Emma Menjivar each received Superior accolades. Kiersten Heverly and Tatum Bruno each were named to the Excellent award winners.

The ACWPC divides Academic honorees into three teams (Outstanding: 4.0-3.71; Superior: 3.70-3.41; Excellent: 3.40-3.20), the list recognizes athletes who competed and achieved academic excellence in the classroom during the abbreviated 2020 season.

In addition, 16 schools earned Team Academic honors for recording grade point averages above a 3.0 threshold as Utica (3.58), Brown (3.56), Macalester (3.56), Princeton (3.51), Harvard (3.50), Connecticut (3.45), Bucknell (3.42), Austin (3.38), George Washington (3.37), Monmouth (3.31), Wittenberg (3.29), Carthage (3.27), Saint Francis (3.24), Washington & Jefferson (3.22), Penn State Behrend (3.14) and Michigan (3.12) all shattered the threshold.
