Women's Volleyball Earns USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

For the 17th time in program history and the fourth consecutive year, the Wittenberg University women's volleyball team earned the United States Marine Corps and American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2019-2020 season. Wittenberg is one of over 1,300 programs that received Team Academic honors this season. The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.

Wittenberg women's volleyball had six players named to the 2020 North Coast Athletic Conference All-Academic award list this year. To be honored as an NCAC All-Academic recipient, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore on an active roster in a sport sponsored by the conference and hold a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher. Katie Hiestand, Ashley Brooks, Gabi Hancock, Taylor Yontz, Aubrey Cox, and Sarah Auble were all listed as NCAC All-Academic honorees for Wittenberg women's volleyball.

Additionally, the Wittenberg Tigers reached their Dig Pink® fundraising goals through the Side-Out Foundation. Wittenberg defeated Oberlin College 3-0 back on October 18, during their Dig Pink match. Dig Pink® is a nationwide movement to provide meaningful and impactful experiences for athletes while inspiring and empowering them to come together in support of the stage IV breast cancer community. Each year, hundreds of teams across the country (and some overseas) participate in the Dig Pink® Rally.
