SPRINGFIELD, Ohio-Wittenberg managed to overcome a slow-start in Pam Evans Smith Arena on Saturday afternoon, as the Tigers opened up NCAC play against the Hiram Terriers. Hiram entered Saturday's game with a 9-2 record, while the Tigers came in at 6-3 after playing arguably the toughest non-conference schedule in the nation. After dropping the first set of the afternoon, Wittenberg bounced back to win the next three, winning the match 3-1. Wittenberg starts off 1-0 in NCAC play and has a quick turnaround, as the team is set to take on the Allegheny Gators at 1PM in Springfield.
GAME NOTES
- Wittenberg improved to 7-3 behind Maddie Fischer and Aubrey Cox who combined for 21 kills in the opening NCAC conference match.
- The Tigers produced 70 total digs on Saturday, as Madison Manger produced 20 of her team's total in four sets of work.
- Wittenberg slugged .159 as a team on the attack, while holding Hiram to a .076 margin.
- Karen Wildemann continued her impressive 2016 campaign, producing 23 assists and nine digs in four sets of work on Saturday.
