Women's Tennis falls 7-2 to Carthage in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Wittenberg women's tennis team continued its four-game spring break trip in Florida on Wednesday with a 7-2 loss to Carthage.

The Basics

  • Records: Wittenberg (7-2 overall), Carthage (7-5 overall)
  • Venue: Sanlando Tennis Center - Orlando, Fla.
  • This marks the first all-time meeting between Wittenberg and Carthage.

The Match

  • Wittenberg opened by winning one of the three singles courts. Freshmen Sophia Pischalko (Granger, Ind./Penn) and Breanna Ball (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy) won 8-4 at No. 2. Junior Caroline Sproule (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) and freshman Kylie Wilson (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) fell 5-8 at No. 1, and freshmen Claire Loomis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and Lilly Hartman (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) fell 6-8 at No. 3.
  • Wilson was the lone Tiger to come away victorious in singles play. She won 5-7, 6-2, 10-2 at No. 2.
  • Sproule fell 1-6, 2-6 at No. 1 singles.
  • Pischalko fell 6-7(4), 6-7(1) in a tight match at No. 3 singles.
  • Ball fell 2-6, 3-6 at No. 4 singles.
  • Loomis fell 2-6, 5-7 at No. 5 singles.
  • Hartman fell 3-6, 2-6 at No. 6 singles.
