Women's Tennis falls 6-3 to Calvin in battle of previously unbeaten teams

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Wittenberg women's tennis team continued its four-game spring break trip in Florida on Tuesday with a 6-3 loss to Calvin in a battle of previously unbeaten teams.

The Basics

  • Records: Wittenberg (7-1 overall), Calvin (7-0 overall)
  • Venue: USTA National Campus - Orlando, Fla.
  • Wittenberg is now 1-2 all-time against Calvin.

The Match

  • Calvin won two of the three doubles courts. Freshmen Sophia Pischalko (Granger, Ind./Penn) and Breanna Ball (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy) won 8-6 at No. 2. Junior Caroline Sproule (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) and freshman Kylie Wilson (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) fell 5-8 at No. 1, and freshmen Claire Loomis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and Lilly Hartman (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) fell 5-8 at No. 3.
  • The Tigers won two of the six singles courts. Sproule won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1, and Wilson won 5-7, 6-2, 10-6 at No. 2.
  • Pischalko fell 3-6, 2-6 at No. 3, Loomis fell 0-6, 0-6 at No. 4, Ball fell 5-7, 3-6 at No. 5 and Hartman fell 1-6, 2-6 at No. 6.
