WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers kicked off the fall portion of the 2015-16 season with a 6-3 loss to Otterbein.

The match opens a busy fall schedule, as the Tigers will head to Earlham to play the Quakers and Anderson on Saturday, Sept. 19, followed by home matches against Heidelberg and Indiana-East before a trip to Kalamazoo, Mich., for the ITA Central Region Championships.

The doubles competition against Otterbein was tightly contested, but two of the three matches went the Cardinals' way. Wittenberg lost 9-7 at both the first and second courts, while the freshman tandem of Carli Milano (Beavercreek, Ohio/Carroll) and Nora Jacobson (Easton, Md./Easton) pulled out an 8-6 decision at No. 3.

In singles, Wittenberg picked up wins on the fourth and fifth courts. Freshman Sarah Fritsch (Crescent Springs, Ky./Notre Dame) was a 6-1, 6-2 victor at the fourth flight and junior Parisa Bennett (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. Otterbein won in straight sets on the four courts, however, to secure the team victory.
