WOOSTER, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's tennis team lost its final 2012-13 regular season match, dropping an 8-1 decision at North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Wooster.

The loss moved the Tigers to 5-10 on the season. Wooster improved to 8-10. The match was considered non-conference because Wooster competes in the East Division and Wittenberg is in the West. All NCAC teams compete in the year-end NCAC Tournament, which is scheduled for next weekend at Oberlin.

Wittenberg's lone point was earned at No. 2 doubles. The tandem of freshman Morgan McDermott (Wheeling, W.Va./The Linsley School) and sophomore Kaitlin Payne (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian) picked up an 8-6 victory.

In singles, freshman Jaimie Whaley (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) nearly pulled off the win at No. 4 singles. She split sets before falling 10-4 in a tiebreaker to determine the third frame.
