SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's tennis team came up just short against visiting Malone, dropping a 5-4 decision in the final match of the Tigers' brief fall dual match campaign.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 2-1, heading into a challenging weekend trip to NCAA Division I Wright State for an invitational tournament next weekend. Malone is now 3-7 on the season.

Things started well for Wittenberg as the Tigers took two of the three doubles points. The tandem of junior Leah Ann Miller (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) and senior Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) won 8-6 at the No. 1 position and sophomore Georgia Bennett (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) teamed with freshman Morgan McDermott (Wheeling, W.Va./The Linsley School) for an 8-5 victory at No. 2.

In singles, however, the Tigers lost the first four courts as Malone rallied for the team win. Junior Andrea Gaietto (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) was a winner at the No. 5 spot and senior Kate Pintauro (Pelham, NY/Hyde School) added a victory at No. 6.
