CEDARVILLE, Ohio — For the first time since September, the Wittenberg women's tennis team has a record above .500 after defeating Cedarville 6-3.

The win over the NAIA scholarship program from the next county moved the Tigers to 10-9 overall, heading into Thursday's Senior Recognition Day match against the College of Wooster. Cedarville dropped to 11-10 on the 2011-12 season.

The Tigers started strong with two wins in the three doubles matches, keyed by a victory at the No. 1 position by sophomore Leah Ann Miller (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central) and freshman Georgia Bennett (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) by a narrow 9-7 count.

Miller added a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, while senior Alex Cummins (New Lebanon, Ohio/Dixie) followed up her No. 3 doubles win with a victory at No. 2 singles. Her doubles partner, senior Maggie Stewart (Bay Village, Ohio/Magnificat), added a key singles point, rallying for a 10-4 win in a third-set tiebreaker.

Junior Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) rounded things out with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.
