HILTON HEAD, SC — Playing with a makeshift lineup due to injuries and illness, the Wittenberg women's tennis team split matches against Susquehanna and Regis.

The Tigers dropped a 7-2 decision to Susquehanna before defeating Regis 9-0. The split left Wittenberg with a 3-5 record on the 2011-12 season.

Against Susquehanna, the Tigers were swept in the doubles competition and then dropped four of six singles matches. The lone bright spots were senior Alex Cummins (New Lebanon, Ohio/Dixie) at No. 1 singles and junior Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) at No. 2 singles. Both were straight-set winners.

Against Regis, the Tigers bounced back to win without dropping a set. Cummins and Wright were among six double-winners in the match, picking up victories at the No. 1 and 2 singles positions again and also winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively.

Junior Kacia Nolan (Indianapolis, Ind./Speedway), sophomore Jessica Coggins (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva), sophomore Andrea Gaietto (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert) and freshman Megan Depew (Downington, Pa./West) won at the Nos. 3-6 singles positions. Nolan paired with Cummins at No. 1 doubles, Coggins teamed with Wright at No. 2 doubles, and Depew and Gaietto won their first collegiate doubles match together at No. 3.
