Dominant Singles Play Guides Tigers to Victory

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - A trip south has done the Tigers nothing but good as they continue to boost their win total, the latest coming in a 7-2 defeat of West Liberty State. The win has the Tigers over the .500 mark for the first time all season.

Sophomore Jayne Miely (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington)claimed one of the Tigers' five singles victories, topping her opponent in the second flight by a 6-2, 6-3 final. Miely and freshman Jackie Stevens (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson)made short work of their doubles opponent, winning 8-1.

Two Tigers did not even drop a game in their singles routs, including senior Kat Sundstrom (Trafalgar, Ind./North Central) and freshman Alex Cummins (New Lebanon, Ohio/Dixie). Sundstrom took the fourth flight while Cummins controlled the sixth tier.

A pair of matches await the Tigers on Wednesday, March 11, beginning with an 8 a.m. date with Seton Hill before a regional matchup with Baldwin-Wallace coming at 5:30 p.m.
