Hellmann Heads to Nationals After Fantastic Performance

Grand Rapids, MI -- Senior diver Emma Hellmann traveled to Calvin University for the 1 meter and 3 meter dive regional competition on Friday and Saturday. Through 11 dives in both competitions, Hellmann broke two school records once again. The previous record for the 1 meter dive was set in 2013 with 395.85 points and the 3 meter dive record was set in 1989 with 388.85. Hellmann has since shattered both on multiple occassions over the course of her Wittenberg career.

In the 1 meter dive comeptition, she took third scoring an impressive 409.65 points Friday afternoon. On Saturday, Hellmann took the crown claiming first place in the 3 meter dive scoring 448.50 points, just over two points more to the second place finisher.

Through the regular season, she captured NCAC Diver of The Year, first Tiger since 2007. Wittenberg Diving Coach Patti Hickey took the Women's Diving Coach of the Year award to go along. After these historical performances, Hellmann qualifies for nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana, which will be happening March 16-20.
