Tiger Teams Sweep Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers opened the dual portion of their 2011-12 season with a strong performance at North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Ohio Wesleyan, recording a pair of lop-sided victories.

The men claimed the win by a 154-82 margin, while the women won by a score of 177-57. The win was a tune-up for the Tigers' home opener against arch-rival Wooster at 1 p.m. Saturday. All of the action will be available via the Tiger Sports Network (Live: audio/video).

The Tigers' top individual performer was freshman AJ Burt (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming), who picked up wins for the men in the 1000-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. In addition, senior Gus Appenbrink (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) won both diving events, while freshman James Dumstorf (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) and senior Teddy Hutchinson (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) added individual wins after swimming legs on victorious relays.

On the women's side, junior Claire Shannon (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) was a double-winner, while junior Jane Tsivitse (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) added two individual wins to her anchor leg on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay.

Other individual event victors were sophomore Courtney Carani (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest), junior Ward McNulty (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier), senior Keaton Hannon (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh), sophomore Sarah Wilson (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe), junior Katie Reed (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) and sophomore Molly Gustafson (West Hartford, Conn./Conard).
