SPRINGFIELD — The defending North Coast Athletic Conference regular-season co-champion Wittenberg women's soccer team was picked as the favorite to win the title again this season in the 2024 Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released on Tuesday.

The Tigers received three of the eight first-place votes and 56 points in the poll.

Ohio Wesleyan was second, receiving the remaining five first-place votes and 54 points. Denison (48 points), DePauw (46 points) and Wooster (32 points) rounded out the top five.

Wittenberg finished 7-7-5 overall and tied Ohio Wesleyan atop the NCAC regular-season standings with a 5-1-1 mark before falling to Denison in the NCAC Tournament semifinals in 2023. Last season marked the Tigers' fifth all-time NCAC title.

Led by eighth-year head coach Katie Robinson, the Tigers open their 2024 season hosting Cedarville on Aug. 30. Wittenberg opens NCAC play on Oct. 5 hosting Denison.

Robinson and her staff earned NCAC Coaching Staff of the Year recognition in 2023. In league play, the Tigers ranked second in the conference with 37 points (14 goals, 9 assists) and posted a league-best .879 save percentage after allowing just eight goals and recording three shutouts.

Wittenberg returns four All-NCAC honorees from 2023, including senior midfielder Brooke Mullis (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Taylor), senior defender Grace Koperna (Macedonia, Ohio/Nordonia), junior forward Alex Hill (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) and sophomore goalkeeper Lily Winkle (Cynthiana, Ky./Harrison County).
