Tigers Fall Short of a Victory Against the Tartans

Springfield, OH -- The Wittenberg Tigers faced off in a battle against the Tartans of Carnegie Mellon Sunday afternoon. The two teams came in having only played eachother four times in competition history, with a record of 1-2-1 in favor of Carnegie. 

The Tigers started out strong, the back line holding the Tartans to only six shots in the first half. The Tartan offense was able to take advantage of their high pressure, scoring once at the 7 minute mark, where it the only point scored in the match. The Tigers were able to get two shots in the first half, keeping up the tempo with the Tartans.

In the second half Wittenberg recognized the heavy pressure coming from Carnegie and played into open space. The game began to get more physical, both teams tallying five fould each in the second half. The Tigers were able to hold Carnegie's offense with their strong defense, stretching the field.

The Tigers will be traveling to Centre College on Wednesday, September 22, first touch is at 7:00 p.m.
