Women's Soccer Opens Up vs. Thomas More In NCAA Tournament

St. Louis, Mo. - The Wittenberg women's soccer team will make their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance this coming weekend. The Tigers have been matched up with the Saints of Thomas More College in the first round scheduled to take place at 8:00 PM on Saturday, Nov. 11 from Washington University in St. Louis. The Tigers will get to take the  pitch at Francis Field the home of the 1904 Olympics.

The defending national champion Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team will host 2017 NCAA Division III First and Second Round play on Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 11-12, at Francis Field in St. Louis. This marks the 11th time since 2003 WashU has hosted first-round action.

Wittenberg won the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship with a 1-0 win over Kenyon College on Saturday. Heading into the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers collected an overall record of 8-6-3 and 5-3 in NCAC action as they ended atheThe Tigers hold an all-time record of 3-5-2 in the NCAA Tournament. Wittenberg will be led by a senior class with playoff experience, coming off a 2016 NCAC Regular Season Championship and an NCAA Tournament bid that same season.

Outscoring their opponents 20-15 this season, Wittenberg will have three options to look to when it comes to goal scoring. The Tigers are led by Megan Davis, Jordyn Wright and NCAC Tournament MVP Kaitlyn Krieg with four goals each this season. Wittenberg has had no problem sharing the ball throughout the season, assisting on 15 of the 20 goals scored.

Thomas More (15-4-1) won its seventh-straight President's Athletic Conference (PAC) title with a 2-0 victory over Grove City on Friday. The Saints have a 7-6 overall record in six-previous trips to the NCAA Tournament.

All three games will be broadcast live on the WashU Sports Network, along with live stats on the WashU Athletics website.
