SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers saw their four-game win streak snapped in dramatic fashion, losing to Denison 1-0 in double overtime on a cold, windy, wet night.

The Tigers dropped to 8-6-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) after the Big Red scored with just 29 seconds left in the second 10-minute overtime period. Denison, the defending NCAC Tournament champion, improved to 6-7-2 overall and 2-3-0 in the NCAC.

Denison got the better of play in the first half of regulation, outshooting the Tigers 10-2. But the Big Red were unable to solve the Tiger defense, anchored by junior goalkeeper Cassie Lythjohan (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville), who made three saves in the opening 45 minutes.

In the second half and the first overtime period, it was Wittenberg with more scoring chances. However, the second overtime was all Denison, which finally hit paydirt on a goal by Tory Danis off an assist from Sara Livingston. The Big Red outshot Wittenberg 5-0 and were awarded three corner kicks to none for the Tigers.

Only one Wittenberg player was credited with more than one shot, junior forward Kailey Striebel (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont).
