    CLEVELAND, Ohio — Denison junior forward Sarah Ash and Kenyon senior defender Jean Arnold have been named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year to highlight the 2007 All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's soccer selections. Wittenberg placed three players on the first team as Amanda Farrell, Suzanne Medwid and Meghan O'Rourke garnered the award.

    The Wittenberg Tigers and Calvin Knights played Saturday evening's NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament second round game on a razor's edge. Both teams grasped at the pendulum of momentum but could never get a solid grip, as it swung back forth all night. In what has to be one of the closest games the 2007 NCAA tournament has seen so far, both teams played their best soccer of the year, sending the game through two regulation halves, two overtimes, and careening into penalty kicks. It was decided there as Wittenberg goalkeeper Meghan O'Rourke (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) proved any doubters wrong, stopping three shots from Calvin and sending the Tigers to the next round.

    The Wittenberg Tigers and the Penn State-Behrend Lions battled out 55 minutes of hard-nosed, high-energy, and scoreless soccer. In the 56th minute, everything changed. Wittenberg opened a floodgate of offense and reeled off four goals before the end of the game while still holding the Lions scoreless. But the game was much closer than the 4-0 final would indicate.
