SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Wittenberg University women's soccer standout Amanda Farrell, class of 2008 from Loveland, Ohio, has been recognized for the combination of her athletic and academic accomplishments with second-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division All-District IV honors. Click Here for complete list of All-District IV honorees.

This is the first such honor in Farrell's fine Wittenberg career. A two-year starter and three-year letterwinner at the forward position for the Tigers, Farrell is enjoying her finest season yet in the Red & White. After ranking as one of the Tigers' top scorers the last two years, Farrell has emerged in 2006 as the Tigers' leader with nine goals and 19 total points, pushing her career point total to 39. She also tops the squad in game-winning goals with three.

Farrell carries a 3.8 grade point average while majoring in biology. In addition to her dedication to the women's soccer program and her exemplary class work, Farrell is active in numerous campus clubs and organizations, including the Pre-Health Club, the American Institute of Biological Sciences and Athletes for Christ.

"Amanda is a gem in the crown of the NCAA Division III athletics model and overall philosophy; consistency, balance and striving for greatness in all areas of a campus community," said Wittenberg Women's Soccer Head Coach Norm Riker. "Amanda has been all that for our program; an exemplary student, a big-time player who just keeps scoring huge goals for us, and most important a humble and incredible person and tremendous teammate."

Farrell has been a key part of the finest season in Wittenberg women's soccer history as the Tigers carry a 13-3-3 overall record into the biggest game of the season on Saturday. The Tigers will host the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship game against Denison University at 7 p.m. at Edwards-Maurer Field. It is Wittenberg's second-ever appearance in the tourney final, and the first time that the Tigers will host the game.

The Tigers finished second in the 2006 NCAC regular season title chase with a 5-1-2 record, marking both the best placement in the NCAC standings and the best conference record in program history. Wittenberg has a 38-12-8 record in Farrell's three-year collegiate career.
