Wittenberg Breaks Out For Win Over Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's soccer express got back on track on Saturday with a 4-1 victory at Mount Union College. The victory moved the Tigers, who were playing their first game in a week after back-to-back ties last weekend, to 4-0-3 on the season, while MUC dropped to 0-5 while scoring just their second goal of the season in the game.

The game was close for more than a half. After the two teams played to a scoreless tie through halftime, the Tigers got things going right away. Freshman Rachel Morgan put the ball in the back of the MUC net less than four minutes into the second half, off a feed from freshman Amanda Farrell.

After Mount Union tied the game off a corner kick play at 68:09, Wittenberg re-gained the lead for good about nine minutes later as freshman Lisa Rusch scored off an assist from junior Emily Hiscar. Sophomore Liz Volz and freshman Abby Vanderbosch added insurance goals in the final eight minutes, taking feeds from Hiscar and freshman Stacy Fennell respectively.

Freshman Meghan O'Rourke was stellar in goal again, contributing three saves while fielding a total of eight Mount Union shots. MUC's Sarah Cochran finished with just one save and four goals against after Wittenberg sent eight shots overall toward the Purple Raiders' net.
