Wittenberg Rolls Past Mount St. Joseph

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Tigers keep on rolling as they defeated Mount St. Joseph by a score of 2-0. Wittenberg remained undefeated, improving its 2004 record to 5-0-3 on the season.

Freshman Lindsey Rusch put the Tigers up as she struck a long shot into the upper corner of the net. Her goal came at the 23-minute mark of the game, giving the Tigers a 1-0 advantage. Quick thinking and precise execution in transition from offense to defense by senior defender Meredith Belser kept the Tigers on top going into halftime.

Wittenberg came out in the second half with the same intensity as was displayed in the first. In the game's 72nd minute junior Lindsay Zigler tapped in a cross from freshman Lisa Rusch. Freshman goalkeeper Meghan O'Rourke recorded her fourth shutout of the year.

The Tigers are back in action Saturday as they travel to Wooster for their NCAC opener at 1:30 p.m.
