Marianne Beshara is beginning her second season as Wittenberg
University's assistant women's lacrosse coach. The youngest field
hockey head coach in the country last year, Beshara arrived at
Wittenberg after spending the 1999 season as the second field
hockey assistant at her alma mater, Ohio University.
Beshara played field hockey and lacrosse at Ohio University. In
lacrosse, she was a midfielder for the Bobcats in 1999, the first
year it was recognized as a varsity sport. As one of the team's
seniors, she also served as a captain.
In field hockey, Beshara was a forward for the Bobcats and earned
All-American honors in 1998 and All-Mid-American Conference
recognition in 1997 and 1998. Beshara ranks in Ohio's top-10 career
point leaders. In addition to her collegiate play, Beshara
participated in U.S. National Team selections in 1998. She was
selected to "B" camp, which evaluates the top collegiate players in
the country for National Team tryouts.
Off the field, Beshara earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Physical Education (1999). She then continued on at Ohio to
complete her Master's of Science Degree in Athletic Administration
in June of 2000.
Beshara grew up in Lancaster, Ohio and participated in field
hockey in high school. She was a 1994 All-American nominee and a
First Team All-Ohioan in field hockey. She still holds school
records for season goals, career goals, season assists and career
points.
Beshara resides in Springfield.
