Tigers Honor Brown and Sammons in Senior Day

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg hosted the DePauw Tigers on Edwards-Maurer Field for Wittenberg's senior day game. Prior to the game, seniors Shannon Brown and Abby Sammons were recognized for their efforts on the team and their achievements over their time as Wittenberg Tigers. After a physical game with DePauw, Wittenberg fell with a score of 16-7.

DePauw was able to get on the board first and left Wittenberg playing catch-up with a 3-0 lead at the 18:44 mark. Junior, Katurah Emery was able to break the streak and get the Tigers their first goal of the night unassisted. Wittenberg wasn't able to make anything happen until the remaining three minutes of the first half with a freshman duo getting through DePauw defense. Freshman, Kelly Mamula snuck through DePauw with an assist from Jessica Flick to get her first goal of the night. Wittenberg went into the half down 9-2.

Flick got things started in the second half with an unassisted goal to make the score 9-3. The Tigers scored their second goal of the half minutes later with Mamula assisting Mya Wolfe at 26:55. Mamula came back at 13:51 with her second goal of the night unassisted but wasn't done there. The freshman scored Wittenberg's last goal and picked up a hat trick in the last minute of play to end the game 14-7.

Kelly Mamula led the Tigers with three goals and one assist on the night. In goal for Wittenberg was senior, Abby Sammons with 19 saves after facing 35 shots. Wittenberg led statistics in saves on the night and went 16-22 on clear attempts.

Up Next: Wittenberg will return to action on April 17th for another match-up against DePauw at 2PM. They will be traveling to Greencastle, Indiana for this match-up.
