Stecz Slows Down Titans

Springfield, OH- The Tigers opened their 2021 campaign on Edwards-Maurer field against Ill. Wesleyan. Wittenberg was led by freshman attacker Jessica Flick who put up two goals on the board, while junior Joanna Stecz stopped 19 shots from the Titans. Wittenberg was unable to open their season with a win and fell to Ill. Wesleyan with a score of 14 to 5.

Captain, Antavia Horne was able to put the first point of the board for the Tigers off of a free position shot with 22 minutes left in the first half, but Wittenberg remained down 3-1. Another free position shot would give Wittenberg their second goal of the game from freshman, Flick. Wittenberg went into the half down with a score of 8-2.

The Tigers were able to slow down the Titans in the second half, limiting them to six goals. While Wittenberg was able to put three more up on the board from Flick (unassisted), Cecilia Critchfield (free position shot), and Katie Wadds (unassisted). Junior goalie, Stecz faced 33 shots on the day, stopping 19 while the Tigers were able to complete 13 of 25 clears.
