Tiger Women's Lacrosse Upends Wooster 18-8

WOOSTER, Ohio—Wittenberg women's lacrosse improved to 11-3 in 2016 as the Tigers downed NCAC rival Wooster by ten goals, 18-8. The Tigers were led offensively in the game by seniors Carrie Kubasta (Medina, Ohio/Medina) with six goals, and Olivia Lash (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) who netted five goals for the fourth straight game. The Tigers win puts the team in great position in NCAC play, as they are now 5-2 with one regular season NCAC game remaining.

 

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • In the first half of Wednesday night's game, Kubasta and Lash combined for seven total goals as the Tigers led 11-5 at the break.
  • Becca Joseph (Toledo, Ohio/St.Ursula) contributed two goals and an assist in the first half, as the junior collected five total assists in the victory.
  • Wittenberg managed to hold Wooster to just three goals in the second half, as Emily Wadds (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming), Victoria Zysik (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg), Breanna Donnelly (Pickerington, Ohio/North) Kubasta and Lash combined for six straight unanswered Tiger goals that resulted in a running clock for the last 13:43 of Wednesday's game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Wittenberg set the tone early in the NCAC bout, controlling 13 draw controls in the first half, while only allowing Wooster to gain control of four.
  • The Tigers forced Wooster into 20 turnovers in the game, 11 of which were caused by Tiger players, as Kubasta also led this category with three.
  • Katie Reuter (Cleveland, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) collected eight saves in her 60 minutes in net, for a save percentage of 50%.
