Tigers Cruise Past NCAA Divsion II Opponenet Urbana, 16-2

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Urbana University made the short-trip to Springfield to take on the Wittenberg Tigers women's lacrosse team Monday night, and it was the Tigers that came out on top 16-2. The Tigers started slow, but were able to be the aggressor for the entire game against the NCAA Division II opponent. The Tigers offense scored in bunches in the first half of Monday's game, as the home team headed into the locker-room after exploding for 11 goals in the opening 20 minutes. Seven different Tigers found the back of the net in the victory, while as a team Wittenberg mustered up 43 shots. The win moves Wittenberg to 5-1 on the 2016 campaign, with conference play set to start this weekend.

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • By half-time, both Carrie Kubasta (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and Olivia Lash (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) had already netted hat-tricks for Wittenberg.
  • Wittenberg took a commanding 8-1 lead half-way through the opening period after Emily Wadds (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming) scored two goals in less than 1:10.
  • After taking an 11-2 lead into the break, Wittenberg found more of the same in the second half, as five different Tigers scored in the final 20 minutes.

  • Lash sparked the offense time and time again for the Tigers, as the midfielder registered 11 shots on goal Monday night.
