Tigers Earn First Win Of 2012 Season At Mount St. Joseph

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The third try was the charm for Wittenberg's women's lacrosse team and first-year Head Coach Beth Hemminger as the Tigers picked up an 18-3 win at Mount St. Joseph.

The win moved the Tigers to 1-2 on the young season after they dropped a pair of games during a Spring Break trip to Florida.

The Lions, who were playing their 2012 season opener, jumped on top in the first minute of the game, but the Tigers bounced back to tie it at the 28:05 mark on a goal by junior Erin Guiliano (Loveland, Ohio/Kings). That started a run of 10 straight goals for Wittenberg, which took a commanding 8-1 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Junior goalkeeper Katie Bondy (Westerville, Ohio/South) stopped three shots while allowing just on goal in 30 minutes of work to earn the victory. SophomoreJessica Jensen (Hartland, Wisc./Arrowhead) added three saves in the second half.
