ADRIAN, Mich. — The Adrian Bulldogs converted a whopping 12 of 14 second-half shots en route to an 18-11 victory over visiting Wittenberg.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak and dropped the Tigers to 5-4 overall on the 2012 season. Adrian, an NCAA Division III Tournament participant a year ago, improved to 10-2.

Wittenberg competed well over the first 30 minutes, trailing just 6-5 by the intermission. But in the second half, the Bulldogs found the back of the net 12 times after the Tigers had tied the game briefly on a goal by sophomore Alie Marousek (Pittsburgh, Pa./Portsmouth (NH)). Over the final 11 minutes, the lead ballooned from 12-9 to 18-11 as Adrian scored on all six of its shots.

Wittenberg was only outshot 30-28, although Adrian picked up 37 ground balls to 26 for the Tigers.

Senior Jennifer Close (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) led the Tigers with four goals and one assist, and she also topped the squad with five ground balls. Marousek and sophomore Francine Murzynski (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) added two goals apiece, while freshman Kim Loofbourrow (Prospect, Ky./Ballard) and sophomore Nicolette Lyons (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) each contributed one goal and one assist to the attack.

Junior Erin Guiliano (Loveland, Ohio/Kings) and senior Katie Frey (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) chipped in with three ground balls each., while Murzynski was tops with three draw controls.
