Wittenberg Comes Up Short in Regular Season Finale

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - Back-to-back tough games away from home caught Wittenberg a bit road-weary as they fell for the second game in as many days, dropping a 19-6 decision to Notre Dame (OH).

After playing even with their hosts for the first 15 minutes, even holding a brief lead after a goal by sophomore Jordan Beauchamp (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) with just under 15 miuntes remaining in the first half, the Tigers struggled the rest of the afternoon.

Notre Dame rattled off 11 consecutive goals during a stretch spanning from late in the first half to well into the second stanza. The Tigers held their own in ground balls, trailing by a slim 27-23 margin, as they were led by senior Cait Mather (Mason, Ohio/Mason) with three. Mather added a goal for the Tigers on the afternoon.

The loss sets the Tigers back at 7-6 heading into their first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) postseason venture since 2003 when they travel to the College of Wooster Friday, May 1 for a 5 p.m. meeting with the Kenyon College Ladies in an NCAC Tournament semifinal. The Tigers met the Ladies on April 22 in Springfield, dropping that affair, 18-9.
