Early Goal Flurry Sends Tigers To Victory

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Playing their first two matches from deep early deficits, the Tigers turned the tables on Trine in a 10-7 win. Wittenberg jumped out to a 6-1 first half lead before holding on in the second stanza for their second win of the young season.

Sophomore Jordan Beauchamp (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) began the game as a scoring machine, recording a hat trick before the game was a quarter old. Later in the half, senior Lizzie Amorello (Sutton, Mass./Worcester Academy) got into the act, adding two of her three goals on the afternoon.

Sophomore defender Amanda Trepanier (Naperville, Ill./Central) fired home a goal of her own, her first of the season, to keep the Thunder in check. JuniorBonnie Kenney (Lutherville, Md./Park School) went the entire way for the Red and White in net, recording six saves in the winning decision.

Wittenberg outshot their visitors 34-17 for the contest and forced 13 saves from the Trine goalkeeper. Up next for the Tigers, the third game of their homestand comes on Saturday, March 28, from Edwards Maurer Field with a meeting with Fontbonne at 2 p.m.
