Tigers Fall On Senior Day To Ohio Wesleyan

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - On a beautiful Saturday morning, the Wittenberg women's lacrosse team faced a tough Ohio Wesleyan team. After honoring its three seniors in a short Senior Recognition Day ceremony, the Tigers came out strong but could not hold on, eventually losing 16-9 to their North Coast Athletic Conference rivals.

The Tigers moved to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in the NCAC. There are only three games remain on the regular season schedule, all on the road, starting with St. Vincent College on April 24.

The Tigers offensive attack was led by junior Amber Cupples (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster), who had three goals and senior Melissa Jackson (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), who racked up one goal and two assists.

The offensive effort wasn't enough for the Tigers as Ohio Wesleyan outshot them, 29-25. Turnovers also hurt the Tigers as they had 34 to Ohio Wesleyan's 28.

Defensively, senior Lauren Bouton (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) picked up six ground balls and junior goalkeeper Sarah Zane (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) captured 15 saves.
