Wittenberg Falls To Roanoke, 11-3

ROANOKE, Va. - At the end of a tumultuous week, the Wittenberg Tigers finally got back to the business of playing lacrosse, but they were overmatched by host Roanoke, 11-3.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 0-4 on the young season as they played their first game under interim head coach Diana Kuser. Roanoke improved to 4-2.

The Tigers fell behind 7-0 before finally getting on the scoreboard with nine seconds left in the first half on a goal by freshman Katie Radeackar, off a feed from sophomore Amber Cupples. The difference was only 4-2 in the second half, but by then the margin was too great for the young Tigers.

Junior Melissa Jackson scored both second-half goals, while Cupples and senior Emily Hiscar had the assists. Sophomore Megan Scott made her first start in goal for the Tigers, and she turned away nine of the 31 shots she faced.
