Tigers Explode On Offense To Down Seton Hill

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers chalked up a second home victory in as many days with a 19-10 win over Seton Hill University. In their first two home games, the Tigers scored more goals (30) than they had in their previous five games (28), all road or neutral field losses.

Wittenberg is now 2-5 overall and is off until next Saturday, when the Tigers round out the non-conference portion of the 2006 schedule with a home game against Notre Dame (OH). The North Coast Athletic Conference opener is two weeks away against Allegheny, always at Edwards-Maurer Field.

Against Seton Hill, the Tigers got off to a strong start offensively and kept things going from there. Junior Melissa Jackson continued to play well, pouring in seven goals and four assists for 11 total points. Both the seven goals and four assists were the third-highest totals in school history, matching several previous performances by multiple players. No official records are available for total points in a game.

Sophomore Amber Cupples also enjoyed an outstanding game as she dished out a career-best four assists to go along with a goal. Freshmen Katie Radeackar, Megan Meige and Cait Mather all finished with two goals apiece, while single scores were posted by junior Kari Thomas, junior Michelle Hanners, freshman Lizzie Amorello, senior Emily Hiscar and freshman Ronni Appenbrink. Hiscar and Amorello topped the team in ground balls with six each.

In goal, freshman Melissa Sedziol won her second straight game in as many starts. She was credited with seven saves before giving way to sophomore Meghan Scott.
