Tiger Rally Falls Short At Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers put up the good fight, but in the end the Wooster Scots had too much offense and pulled out a 13-9 victory.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Wooster remained atop the NCAC standings at 3-0 to go along with a 6-2 overall record.

Wittenberg fell behind 7-4 by halftime, but the Tigers battled back to within one goal on second half scores by junior Melissa Jackson and senior Emily Hiscar. But Wooster put the game away with four straight goals over a four-minute span.

Jackson led the Tigers in scoring for the ninth time in 11 games with four scores on the day. Wooster native Amber Cupples, a sophomore, added two goals and an assist. Freshman Lizzie Amorello chipped in with a pair of goals.

Statistically, Wittenberg actually held an advantage in ground balls and draw controls, led by Cupples with seven ground balls and junior Kari Thomas with four draw controls. Freshman Melissa Sedziol came up with eight saves in goal as the Scots peppered Wittenberg for 36 shots, compared to 24 for Wittenberg.
