WOOSTER, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers hit the road on Thursday and probably wished they had stayed back in Springfield. Playing without two key starters, the Tigers were defeated in their 2005 North Coast Athletic Conference opener, 16-3.

The Tigers got off to a rough start, falling behind 7-0 by halftime. The second half was a little more even as sophomore Kari Thomas scored two goals and senior Jenny Burns added another.

Freshman Sarah Zane made five saves in each half as she made her first collegiate start.
