Tigers Pick Up Two Wins

Wittenberg picked up a pair of impressive wins last week as the Tigers romped 19-1 at Earlham on March 29 and then recorded a dramatic 7-6 double-overtime victory at Oberlin on April 1. Senior Kati Robbins (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton), a first-team all-conference selection a year ago, leads the NCAC in scoring with 11 goals and 17 assists on the season, and in recognition of her outstanding efforts, the North Coast Athletic Conference awarded her Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors. 

In the win over Earlham, which was scheduled as a non-league affair, Robbins scored four goals and added five assists, while sophomore Cara Romanowski (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) chipped in with five goals and an assist.

n the win over Oberlin, which is expected to be one of the other contenders for the NCAC title in 2001, seniorJennie Stone (Damascus, Md./Damascus) led the Tigers with three goals. The two biggest scores in the game were recorded by freshman Kate Williston (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster), who scored her second goal of the game with five seconds remaining in the first overtime, and Robbins, who netted the game-winner 30 seconds into the second overtime. 

The Tigers have a big week ahead of them as they host NCAC powers Ohio Wesleyan and Kenyon on Tuesday and Thursday respectively. Wittenberg rounds out its busiest week yet in the 2001 campaign with a non-conference home game against Whittier on Sunday.
