SEWICKLEY, Pa. — Sophomore Hillary Humbaugh (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) shot a round-best 71 on Tuesday to lead the Wittenberg women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Win Palmer Cup.

The Basics

  • Venue: Allegheny Country Club - Sewickley, Pa., Par 71, Yardage: 5,508
  • Wittenberg served as the host school for the tournament.
  • Joining Wittenberg in the four-team field were Washington & Jefferson, Westminster and Denison. Denison received votes in the latest NCAA Division III Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll, which was released April 12.
  • While the tournament recognized the 36-hole scores to determine the final standings, the scores from Monday's first round do not count toward NCAA postseason consideration due to the playing distance being too short.

Quote - Sophomore Hillary Humbaugh

  • "I couldn't be more happy with my round. Every part of my game held up against the course, and the longer setup favored my strengths. My drives consistently set me up to hit greens, and I made some good putts to save pars and birdies. I had a great start to the day by eagling my first hole, a long par-5. I am proud of the Lady Tigers for being competitive and stepping up to the challenge today. Overall, I just enjoyed the course and the weather. Thank you to Mr. Aber for allowing us to play such a fun tournament!"

Up Next

  • The Tigers return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, at the Franklin Lady Grizzly Invitational at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin, Ind.
