Hopkinson-Wood Takes First, Tigers Second at Lynn Schweizer Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Wittenberg women's golf kicked off the 2017 campaign with a second-place finish at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational over the weekend. The Tigers fired a 642 (+74) as a team at the par 71, 5,824 yard Denison Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

The Tigers were led by senior Jane Hopkinson-Wood, who carded rounds of 75 and 73 for a six-over 148 and a first place finish. Hopkinson Wood's six-over gave her medalist honors for the 10th time in her Tiger career, finishing atop the leaderboard one-stroke ahead of Christina Herbert from Bridgewater.

Madi Wolters and Brianna Yee rounded out the Tigers top-20 finishes, as Wolters finished T9 and Wolters 11th. Wolters fired rounds of 76 and 84 for a two-day score of 160 (+18), while Yee carded rounds of 86 and 75 for a 161 (+19).

Wittenberg is back in action at the NCAA Fall Preview in Howey-in-the Hills, Florida on September 17.
