Tigers Finish Middle Of The Pack At Washington University

MADISON, Ill. - The Wittenberg Tigers tested themselves against one of the top fields in the nation and came away with an eighth-place finish in the 16-team field assembled at the Washington University Invitational.

The Tigers carded rounds of 326 and 320 to finish with a two-day total of 646 on the par-72, 5,865-yard course at Gateway National Golf Links. William Woods, the sixth-ranked team amongst NAIA scholarship programs, won the tournament with a score of 605, followed by the host Bears, the top-ranked team in NCAA Division III, which wound up just one stroke back.

Individually, Wittenberg was paced by junior Nicole Waers (Canton, Ohio/Perry) with a two-day total of 158, good for 22nd place. She was followed by freshman Macy Hubbard (Mason, Ohio/Mason) in 30th place with a score of 162.

Sophomore Maggie Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) was right behind in 33rd with a score of 163, junior Carolyn Wong (Naperville, Ill./Central) was next in 39th with a 164, and sophomore Allie Lawwill (Springboro, Ohio/Middletown) rounded things out in 46th with a 165.

The Tigers return to action closer to home next weekend at Ohio Wesleyan's Bump Invitational April 12-13.
