Tigers Compete Well Against Loaded Field At DePauw University Small College Classic

CLAYTON, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers finished a deceiving 10th in a loaded 13-team field at the two-day DePauw Small College Classic.

The finish was deceiving because the Tigers turned in a pair of solid rounds for a program overloaded with inexperienced players, including four freshman among the five players entered in the tournament. Wittenberg shot 710 as all five players were below the century mark on both days, led by freshman Anne Busam (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) with a 172, good for 29th place.

The field included no less than five teams that reached the NCAA Division III Tournament a year ago. Freshman Carrie Frey (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas)was next for Wittenberg with a 175, including a pair of sub-90 rounds, followed by senior Jennifer Petro (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) with a 179, freshman Nicole Momsen (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula) with a 187 and freshman Heather Hendrickson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers) with a 190.

The Tigers will get right back at it next weekend at the Ohio Dominican Auld Crafters Kisor Classic, where the Tigers posted the best team round in school history (342).
