Tigers Continue To Show Improvement With Strong Finish At ONU Spring Fling

The Tigers earned team runner-up honors.

MARYSVILLE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers returned to Ohio and put together a strong performance in the Ohio Northern Spring Fling at Darby Creek Golf Club. The event replaced a scheduled tournament at Mount Union that was cancelled due to poor course conditions.

The team score of 376 was good for second place overall (Ohio Northern's B Team finished second but was not eligible for team awards) and marked another solid step forward for the Tigers, who nearly put all five players under 100 for the first time in school history. Junior Jennifer Petro (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) led the way as usual, this time carding a 90 to place fourth in the tournament overall. But she had plenty of company in the 90s on this cool but mostly sunny day.

Freshman Anna Bencriscutto (Ironwood, Ariz./Oro Valley) was next with a 94 to finish 13th, followed by matching 96s from sophomores Kimberleigh McClure (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) and Amanda Delagrange (Akron, Ohio/Firestone). It was a collegiate-best score for Delagrange, while it was the second-best of the 2007-08 season for McClure.
