SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Ohio Northern University captured first place in the third annual Wittenberg Women's Golf Invitational at Windy Knoll Golf Course in Springfield.
The Polar Bears had five players card a 95 or better to beat out four other teams for the top prize, led by Ashley Raderstorf with an 84. That score tied Raderstorf for first place, but she lost out on medalist honors to Transylvania's Rhea Badgett, who had the best score on the top handicap hole.
ONU scored 356 as a team to outdistance Ohio Athletic Conference rival Wilmington by seven strokes for top honors. The Quakers were followed by Capital with 379, host Wittenberg with 380 and Transylvania with 386. For the Tigers, it was the best score of the season and the first time in 2006 that all four scoring players broke the 100-stroke plateau.
Wittenberg was paced by freshman Jenny Petro with a 91, good for a tie for eighth place.
