The Wittenberg University Women's Golf team is off and running
in its inaugural varsity season of 2003-04. The first-year varsity
program includes 12 committed student-athletes who are excited
about the task at hand - namely building the foundation for a
strong, winning program.
Leading the charge in the 2004 spring season is senior
Erin Mowrey (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula), who is the
most accomplished golfer on the team and a co-captain this year. In
the fall, she led the team in all four events, averaging a 95.6 in
five rounds. She helped found the team with Head Coach Pat Clouse
in 2003.
Leah Krotine (Strongsville, Ohio/Padua
Franciscan) and Liz Van Hoose (Springfield,
Ohio/Shawnee), the other co-captain, are the team's other
two seniors. Both provided important leadership as the program
gained varsity status after two years as a club organization.
Sophomore Ann Delaney (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo
Grove), freshman Erica Bodnar (Columbus,
Ohio/Upper Arlington), sophomore Callie Riley
(Maitland, Fla./Winter Park) and sophomore Alex
Pressler (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich./Grosse Pointe South)
make up a strong nucleus of young golfers. They consistently scored
for the team in the fall season.
Also vying for playing time are junior Meghan Lahner
(Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) and sophomores Kari
Fredriksen (Groton, Mass./Lawrence Academy), Kelly
Prasser (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin), Whitney Adams
(Aiken, SC/South Aiken) and Jennie Williams
(Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee).
The team's schedule is filled with challenges, including
tournaments that feature most of the top teams in the region. A
highlight of the season will be the Spring Break trip to Hilton
Head, S.C. The team has the privilege of playing at Berkeley Hall
Club as a result of the efforts of Wittenberg graduate Ron
Stansell.
