Wolshire, Simpson, Ragan earn CSC Academic All-District honors in Women’s Basketball

SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg seniors Evie Wolshire (Lancaster, Ohio/Fairfield Union) and Jade Simpson (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) and junior Kelsey Ragan (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) were named to the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Academic All-District Team for the 2023-24 season, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To earn CSC Academic All-District distinction, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in class standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 while competing in 90% of her team's games or starting 66% of those games.

Wolshire, a sport management major, boasts a 3.79 GPA and played in all 26 of the Tigers' games during the 2023-24 season and made 21 starts. She averaged 5.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 22.5 minutes per game. She finished the year ranked second on the team in assists.

In 58 career games at Wittenberg, including 51 starts, Wolshire has averages of 7.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 26.5 minutes per game.

Simpson, an exercise science major, boasts a 3.59 GPA and started all 26 games this past season. She averaged 8 points and 7.3 rebounds in 27.9 minutes per game while shooting 44.6% from the floor. She ranked second on the team in rebounding average.

In 86 career games at Wittenberg, including 85 starts, Simpson has averages of 9 points and 7.9 rebounds in 28.2 minutes per game. She ranks seventh all-time at Wittenberg with 680 career rebounds.

Ragan, an environmental science major, boasts a 3.88 GPA and played in all 26 games in 2023-24, making 23 starts. She averaged 6.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per game and made a team-high 44 3-pointers on 32.8% shooting from beyond the arc.

In 71 career games at Wittenberg, including 65 starts, Ragan has averages of 7.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 33.8% from 3-point range. She has made 106 3-pointers, which ranks seventh all-time at Wittenberg.

Academic All-District honorees will be considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on April 16.
