Wittenberg Takes Down OWU in Code Red Game

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg returned to Pam Evans Smith Arena for their Code Red Game against the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan. The last time the Tigers saw the Battling Bishops in action this season, Wittenberg picked up a 56-49 win on the road.  

The Tigers shot 44% from the field, 25.0% in three-points, and 64.7% from the line going 11-17. Wittenberg was able to put 59 points on the board being led by Taryn Cash with 19 points and three rebounds. Defensively, the Tigers were led by Jade Simpson with 11 rebounds and one blocks.

Wittenberg started with a close first quarter putting up 15 points compared to the Battling Bishops 13 points and went even in the second quarter with 14 points each with the Tigers fighting for a two-point lead heading into the half. The Red & White were able to gain on OWU in the third quarter adding 16 points to their total compared to Ohio Wesleyans 10 for a eight point lead going into the final quarter of play. Ohio Wesleyan was able to control the fourth quarter of play with 18 points but in clutch moments Jade Simpson was able to score crucial points to keep Wittenberg in the game with a 57-55 score and 35 seconds to play. Taryn Cash was able to score the final point to secure the win for the Tigers with a score of 59-57.

Wittenberg adds their 10th conference win to their season record and improve to a 17-4 overall record. Wittenberg remains in the top spot in the NCAC with a four-game win streak.
